Angeliki Pilali-Papasteriou taught Prehistoric Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for nearly thirty years. Hundreds of students attended her lectures and excavations. When she suddenly passed away in the Fall of 2007, she was still an active and distinguished member of the University community.
This volume includes 17 studies which cover a broad spectrum of Greek Prehistoric Archaeology: a great part of the book is occupied by studies on prehistoric Macedonia, for which the honoree had developed important scientific interest. The book also includes studies on the Cyclades, on Crete and on the Minyan world, areas that were also included in Papasteriou's scientific interests.
Given that Papasteriou was one of the first Greek archaeologists to deal with issues of theoretical concern of the Aegean prehistory, the volume also contains studies that offer a modern perspective on the theoretical approaches of archaeology.
