Fourteen chapters comprise this study.
Three of them concern translated poems as instructive material and eleven are reviews and interpretations of contemporary translations of ancient Greek poetry (Homer, Aeschylus, Euripides, Biblical Passages, Palatine Anthology), French poetry (Baudelaire, Jean Moreas) and English poetry (Shakespeare, Whitman, Burns, American Indian poetry).

On the whole, the book recapitulates the various translation methods followed in poetry translation.
It examines cases of "faithful" translations as well as "unfaithful" adaptations which "betray" the semantics of the original by aiming mainly to preserve the aesthetic value of the source text.
